AirVentures Okavango Balloon Safaris has been established as the sister company of AirVentures Hot Air Ballooning South Africa. AirVentures South Africa is a commercially registered balloon operation with the South African Civil Aviation Authority, and is a seven time tourism award winning company, operating hot air balloon rides over the Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site. The experience, product, and service quality from AirVentures South Africa is carried across borders into the Botswana operation, combining to create a safe and unique tourism product in Botswana.
The primary area of operation is in the north eastern part of the Okavango Delta, which was pioneered by pilots Adam Fillmore and Mervin De Souza in 2014. AirVentures Okavango Balloon Safaris has since gone on to acquire the necessary licences with the Civil Aviation Authority of Botswana and acquired the necessary Tourism Licences. The Botswana operation has also undergone an Environmental Impact Assessment, regulated by the Department of Environmental Affairs, promoting a product that is environmentally aware and in line with the conservational ethos of the country.
The base for operations has been set up within the flying area of the Kadizora Camp concession. The operation is complimented with two hot air balloons, the largest carrying only four passengers, in order to provide an intimate and personalised experience for passengers. The hot air balloons are sourced from two world leading manufacturers, Cameron Balloons, and Lindstrand Balloons, and are equipped with all of the necessary safety equipment. The burner systems on the balloons are equipped with a 'Whisper Burner', which significantly reduces noise when flying over wildlife. Our pilots are highly experienced and licenced with the Botswana Civil Aviation Authority. AirVentures also promotes a field guide qualification for all of its pilots, to enhance the guest experience, and continue its commitment to the conservation of the flying area. All staff required for the day to day operations of the business are sourced from the local communities, and provided with training required for working within the operation and within the environment of the Okavango Delta.
